In a move precipitated by the continued success of its environmental division, SFF Services Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation, has transferred provision of these services to Marine Environmental Solutions (MES).
Delivering core services at home and abroad
Aberdeen-based MES is well-placed to support the offshore industries, and will build on the strong track record of its parent company. There is a growing need for offshore environmental services driven by continued expansion offshore, and a greater awareness of environmental issues. Companies operating in the marine environment must work harder than ever to lessen their impact.
One of MES core services is noise mitigation, providing personnel and equipment to monitor marine mammal activity in areas where industrial activities are taking place. This includes MMO, PAM and ADD, and MES has recognised capability, and extensive experience both at home and overseas. The company has pursued opportunities in the Falklands, Greenland, Australia and North America, and is now looking to expand into new markets.
A second core service is seabed debris clearance, developed primarily for the oil and gas sector, which aims to help industry achieve its 35% cost reduction targets for decommissioning, and also meet the clear seabed requirements set by UK Government.
A robust environmental services offering
Steven Alexander, Managing Director of MES, commented, “This is an exciting opportunity. We will develop a robust environmental service offering and build on work done over the past thirty plus years. SFFSL has been successful in developing its’ services in the UKCS Scottish sector. With these services now attractive to a wider market, there is an opportunity to export our capability further afield. This is what we hope to achieve with Marine Environmental Solutions.”
In addition to these core activities MES will deliver a range of inshore and offshore marine survey services. This will include grab sampling, seabed sampling, drop-down camera survey, multi-beam survey, and ROV survey. Marine support services, including environmental monitoring, bespoke data collection, and marine consultancy, complete the offering.
